{"id":375,"date":"2014-08-14T18:35:32","date_gmt":"2014-08-14T18:35:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alexander-miles.com\/?p=375"},"modified":"2014-08-15T23:07:44","modified_gmt":"2014-08-15T23:07:44","slug":"arcane-agesteramud-necromancer-overhaul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alexander-miles.com\/?p=375","title":{"rendered":"Arcane Ages\/TERAMUD: Necromancer overhaul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It came to my attention a while back that the Necromancer class on the MUD had\u00a0a large collection of glaring issues. \u00a0With help from Winterstar and Lascelles I was able to sink a good deal of time into fixing myriad problems with the class. A list of the changes is presented below:<\/p>\n<p>Summons<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ghost, lesser and Ghost, greater were fixed such that the ability works as indicated in the helpfile.<\/li>\n<li>Ghoul, devouring no longer summons a skeletal fury instead. The ghoul now eats corpses on command.<\/li>\n<li>Ghoul, venomous no longer summons a lesser wraith instead.<\/li>\n<li>Greater shade now works.<\/li>\n<li>Shadow warrior now works.<\/li>\n<li>Summon Dracolich now has help file.<\/li>\n<li>Summon lich now works. Helpfile added to clarify current working.<\/li>\n<li>Wraith Lord no longer summons a Wraith Knight instead.<\/li>\n<li>Damage, AC, Stop, and abilities adjusted to make pets more comparable to golems, treants, phantasms, and other summons.<\/li>\n<li>Abilities adjusted to maintain themes for each line:\n<ul>\n<li>Skeletons (and skeletal dragons) are aggressive, susceptible to fire and acid attacks.<\/li>\n<li>Ghouls are more resilient and immune to poison and draining attacks.<\/li>\n<li>Shades are incorporeal, making them harder to hit.<\/li>\n<li>Wraiths hit harder, possess potent cold-based attacks. Immune to cold, and draining attacks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>As Necromancers rely on their pets as a primary damage source, all pets now incur NO PENALTY to earned XP. Go forth and raise an army!<\/li>\n<li>All summons now use dissolve(), meaning objects inside targeted corpses drop in the room instead of being destroyed. The same function is used when the Ghoul, Devouring feeds.<\/li>\n<li>All summons renamed to fit the \"Type, Subtype\" template.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other spells<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blackmantle works now. Help \u00a0file has been updated to describe how it functions.<\/li>\n<li>Messages fixed on Soul whip. Fixed major typo\u00a0in\u00a0help file.<\/li>\n<li>Messages fixed on Shadow gate.<\/li>\n<li>Added damage formula to help file for sap and sap, minor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Runes<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Added par rune at level 100 to allow spectre touch to be learned at 106.<\/li>\n<li>Added bod rune at level 145 to allow backmantle to be learned at 148.<\/li>\n<li>Added met rune at level 54 to allow dispel magic to be learned at 54.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Skills<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unearth corpse has been disabled for the time being.<\/li>\n<li>Necromancy i, ii, and iii renamed to Necromancy Mastery i, ii, and iii to better fit with the other mastery skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Help Files<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Help file for the necromancer class has been updated<\/li>\n<li>Help files for all the summons have been grouped by line (e.g. shades, wraiths, etc).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There's still a few\u00a0issues that I will be working on as time goes on, namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Zin'Carla doesn't work, might require new low-level features to be implemented.<\/li>\n<li>Necromancy Mastery doesn't actually do anything useful at present.<\/li>\n<li>Necromancers get alchemy (brew potions) but don't learn any useful<\/li>\n<li>Nethershield can't be brief'd like normal damageshield messages.<\/li>\n<li>Negative energy spells can't be aimed at undead minions, regardless of nice settings.
